Dies R Us "Slots of Tags"!

It's my last Monday up on the Dies R Us Inspirational Blog as my Design Team term comes to an end.  I've had a wonderful time working with the Dies R Us Store and a great group of fellow team members.  Many thanks for having me the past six months! Best wishes to the new team members about to embark on their terms.

With Halloween not far away, I decided to make my last project a Halloween card.  I hope you like my "Slots of Tags" using the Memory Box Straight Slider Grooves and Tutti Designs Nesting Stitched Tags die cuts.

"Happy Halloween"

This 6 inch square "Slots of Tags" card even has a tag for personalized greetings!

I kept the slider grooves attached to one another and turned them to a vertical position.

The green matting shows the areas cut using the Straight Slider Groove dies.

I used one size of the Tutti Designs Nesting Stitched Tags for all 3 of the tags.

The staggered tags before the final embellishing!

A chipboard ghost with a little glitter, a skeleton, and a tag for personalizing complete the card!

Thanks so much for stopping by to share my "Slots of Tags" inspiration!

Double D Sentiment/Quote Challenge!

It's time for the Double D's second challenge in September.  At the Double D Challenge Blog, we always offer great inspiration with our selection of mood boards and Design Team creations.  Come and play along with us!

For the next two weeks, our challenge theme is Sentiments and Quotes.   Use a favorite sentiment or inspirational quote on your card or project and link it up to our current challenge post HERE in the Double D Challenge Blog.  We'll be awarding badges and giving out this prize to one lucky winner chosen by random draw...

And, as always, here's a mood board to help inspire you.  Use one, two, three or all four of the photos as your inspiration.

I took my inspiration from the colors and quotes in the mood board photos.

"She STOOD in the storm..."

I wanted to create a feminine card to go along with one of my favorite sentiments, so pink was the choice.  The quote speaks for itself...I find it very inspiring on days when things aren't going my way.  Life requires us to be flexible every day.  This card is on it's way to a friend that, I hope, takes inspiration from this quote.  She should be receiving it today!

The card is 5" x 7" in size with a black cardstock base.  The white floral background die cut is layered over patterned paper from Authentique's "Classique: Pretty" Collection.  I stamped the sentiment on white cardstock, cut it with an oval die and matted it with a scalloped die.

And...introducing my first attempt at making foamiran flowers!!  My friend, Monica, turned me on to trying this after seeing the amazing ones that she created.   I used a Heartfelt die to make the petals and then inked them with distress ink in the centers and along the edges.  When they were assembled, I sprayed them with iridescent Glitter Dust.  I think for the first attempt, they turned out pretty well.  A few pearls and a turquoise bow complete the embellishing!

From my stash...
Authentique Classique: Pretty Collection
Bazzill Cardstock
Close To My Heart Black Ink
Die Cuts: Anna Griffin, Heartfelt Creations, Spellbinders
Queen & Company Pearls
Ranger Victorian Velvet Distress Ink
Therm O Web Glitter Dust
Other: Foamiran, ribbon

Challenges entered:
Really Reasonable Ribbon #172/10-4
Scrapyland Challenge #74/9-30

Thanks for stopping by to share my challenge inspiration.
Now it's your turn...join in our "Sentiment and Quote" Challenge.
Come on over to the Double D Challenge Blog and play along.

Dies R Us Chinese Lantern Sympathy Card

It's my day up on the Dies R Us Inspirational Blog and I'm sharing a card using a  very unique die from Poppystamps, the Chinese Lantern Stem and Tutti Designs Sympathy Word Set.

The Chinese Lantern plant has always fascinated me with its delicate and paper thin fruit.  The bright orange color makes it a favored fall decoration this time of year.  They're typically used in dry floral and other ornamental arrangements. This die cut is perfect for the upcoming Halloween and Thanksgiving holidays.

I used the Chinese Lantern die cut along with a "Sympathy" word die to create a simple, but elegant design on my card.

Here's my Chinese Lantern Stem inspiration for you...

  "Sympathy"

Trying to photograph a creation that has metallic on it is so hard!  It has to be shown at every angle in order to catch the true color of the paper.  Getting the lighting just right is next to impossible!  I took so...many...pictures of this card, and hope you are able to see the beauty and elegance of this simple design.

I double cut the die using metallic gold and orange glitter cardstock.

I kept the gold metallic die cut to use as the outline for the stem and lantern.  The orange glitter insets from the second cut became the lantern itself.

The sentiment is also cut from the gold metallic paper.

Here's a front view of the card.
